Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Vegan butter, cold and cubed
  • ½ cup Molasses
  • ¼ cup Non-dairy milk

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, cubed vegan butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the molasses and non-dairy milk. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the dough into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
