  • 1 lb Andouille sausage, sliced
  • 1 lb Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1 cup Green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup Celery, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Vegetable oil
  • 4 cups Chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups Cooked white rice
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux, cooking and stirring until it turns a dark brown color.
  2. 2. Add the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  3. 3. Stir in the sausage and cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. 4. Gradually stir in the chicken broth, then add the Cajun seasoning and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
  5. 5. Add the shrimp and cook until they are pink and opaque, about 5 minutes.
  6. 6. Serve the gumbo over cooked white rice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
