Ingredients

  • 2 large green plantains peeled and sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • to taste salt

Instructions 

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the plantain slices to the pan and fry for about 3 minutes on each side, until they are golden.
  3. Remove the plantains from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. Using a flat object, like the bottom of a glass, flatten each plantain slice.
  5. Return the flattened plantains to the pan and fry again for about 2 minutes on each side, until crispy.
  6. Remove from the pan, drain on paper towels, and season with salt to taste.
