  • 1 cup Basmati Rice rinsed
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee or Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. In a saucepan, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and sauté until they start to sizzle.
  3. 3. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the ghee and cumin seeds.
  4. 4. Pour in the water and add salt. Bring to a boil.
  5. 5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  6. 6. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
