Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Steak (ribeye or your choice) about 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 2 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 2 sprigs Thyme
  • 2 tablespoon Butter

Instructions 

  1. 1. Take the steaks out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
  2. 2. Preheat your cast iron pan over high heat until it's smoking hot.
  3. 3. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  4. 4. Add the olive oil to the pan. Place the steaks in the pan and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, until a crust forms.
  5. 5. Add the garlic, thyme, and butter to the pan. Tilt the pan and spoon the melted butter over the steaks for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  6. 6. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130°F (54°C).
  7. 7. Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
